Knitting

I kept hearing about knitting and how relaxing it is. My mother used to crochet, but I decided that I would rather learn to knit. I bought a couple of books, a pair of needles, and some yarn, having decided that I was going to knit a cover for my iPad (it was in one of the books). I sat down and wouldn’t you know that fibro fog or pain pill fog, whichever you prefer, sets in and I don’t understand a word this book is written in. It’s like Russian or something. Screw relaxing, I burst out crying, frustrated at how my mind doesn’t work anymore.

I decided that my best bet would be to take a relaxing bath, and start over. This time, though, I am going to use the internet to see if it is any more helpful than the Russian books were. I mean, I was so stressed, I was grinding my teeth, which for someone with bad teeth, is not a good idea. Wish me luck!

By the way, I didn’t go to church today, but I got a great bag for my cushion which hopefully will make me less self-conscious about having it in the first place.

  1. I find that it’s easier to learn with YouTube tutorials. And starting with simple projects makes it easier to learn as well. It takes practice, but with passion and releasing any expectations of the end results, it begins to get a little easier with each time you knit. Good luck! 🙂

  2. Great idea – hit the RESET button on your day and start all over. I’m a believer in that and practice it too. Some days I just cannot comprehend anything. I’ve learned to be forgiving with my brain. You are on the right track – letting it out and starting over is great step forward. Keep it up!

  3. I wish you were crocheting I could help!! I have a shop about to open on Etsy with all my stuff. I am completely lost with knitting but praying you have a better go with it. I get lost sometimes and so frustrated but I’ve learned to just be proud that I’m trying. Things are 10 times harder for us so even trying is courageous. Proud of you girly!!

    • So is crocheting easier? I thought about it, but all Mama did was afghans and after a while I got sick of seeing afghans…between her, my grandma, and my sister…all just afghans. Maybe I will give it a try. I remember a little from watching her, but again, that was just on afghans. Needles aren’t expensive, I’ll pick one up today and see what happens. Hey, never know I may learn to do both! There’s a “shawl group” at my new church (they make shawls and blankets for sick and/ or needy people) and she said that they could teach me.
